My New Year’s Resolutions

Happy New Year! So 2009 heralds in Hope, Courage and Change. What about your New Year’s resolutions? I have made my list of Ten Resolutions. Not your usual list of “eat less”, “smile more” and “call home more often”, but a list of internet resolutions – the kind no one really knows about except you and only you will know if you stick to them.

Rain

I ride in the early mornings up to the Observatory, today I went out and it started to rain. I will ride when it’s hot and cold, but not in the rain. Why? I am a chicken. Coming down the hill at 25 miles per hour in the rain means no brakes, or at least 50% of the brakes. I have no wish to end up head first in a pile of leaves and mud.

On any given day you can watch people take risks on the television or online. Sometimes they end up without any major breaks, but when they do you know it’s going to hurt. I already broke my tibia and fibula a few years ago, and the hobbling around was more than enough for me to be a chicken.

I will leave the daring-do to those who enjoy it, as for me I like not being incased in plaster and on Vicodin.

Fortune Cookies

The blue tin sits there alone on the counter, pictures of buttery cookies and a serene Danish cookie factory stare back at you from the lid.

Growing up Chinese in Canada meant that we would get multiple tins of these Danish Butter Cookies from our relatives. We in turn re-gifted them to other relatives.  MORE>

Discomfort

I love crowds, I hate crowds. I am able to speak to you, one on one. I am able to speak to many at once. However I am uncomfortable at both. There are times that my skin feels not my own and I want to crawl out of it, and slither into a dark cave. I believe this is not uncommon and I feel less hard on myself.
