Obsession

I never have a plan, I start out with an idea; but it veers from there and I end up with something completely different. Just like my life; I started out drawing shoes obsessively when I was eight and here I am, obsessively pasting stuff together.

Hand Eye Co-Ordination

A new image uploaded to the Red Green set. I spent the day getting color prints of eight cover choices for the next issue of Black Clock to CalArts. Then at the photo processor; I had over 60 prints made today as gifts and trades. Finally! It’s been on my list of To-Dos for weeks. So these prints should be in the mail by Friday to everyone who requested artwork. :O)

A nice mention on Coudal Partners. A friend sent this to me. And I got emails asking about purchasing work. Next on the agenda; I am printing 250 sets of 3 cards to send out to agencies and publications for Advert and Editorial work. Still deciding on which 3 images to print.

Thanks for Everything

Thanksgiving was a two day affair. It started Wednesday with the preparation, pumpkin bread, cranberry bread, gingerbread, cheesecake, chocolate cake and roasting the garlic and chestnuts. Cleaning the house, hosing down the patio and brushing out the dogs. Thursday, the 25 pound turkey went into the oven at 11am. Then the cooking started. Daren came down with a selection of table clothes, he looked like a gypsy, a very cute one. Daphne came over early to help set the tables and put out all the drinks. Everyone started to arrive at 4pm. Keith, Vanessa and her partner Julie, Greg, Mikio, Rebecca, Matt, Duane, Jeffrey and Daren. The Boys brought their own chairs down the hill, “You could smell the turkey from our house!”
Keith’s book Queers in History was passed around, and there were exclamations of “Really? He was/is GAY?” We then played Gay or Not. After two pots of coffee and desserts, it felt like we were about to have Food Heart Attacks.
Daren: “I sat behind Richard Simmons at a Barbara Streisand Concert…”
Duane: “That is the Gayest thing I’ve ever heard!”
We were laughing so hard it hurt. This was the most fabulous Thanksgiving ever. I passed out after cleaning up at 2am. And did not get out of bed until 10am the next day. I am a very happy camper.

You Can’t Put It Out

Inspired by a poem from my friend Duncan:
“I labor and one day as I rest in the field she comes with stories and fire and we have crystal ice water and lamb’s quarters in the field.
At dusk she takes flight as a solar flare and travels to her world of restoration and joy and I sleep until the labor begins anew.”

The background is a print I found at the thrift store.
The painting of St. Augustine is by Philippe De Champaigne (1602 – 1674)

A Card From Richard

I added the leaves, I am in a “leaf” mood. I love this quote. I have a list of Turkeys, that have gobbled my money (dvd rentals and theatrical releases):
- Hitman
- Eragon
- Bewitched (Farrell and Kidman)
- Pirates of the Caribbean III
- Rush Hour (all of them)
- Glitter (campy bad)
- Showgirls ( I showed this at my Third Annual Trailer Trash Party)
- Xanadu
- Can’t Stop The Music / Village People ( Bruce Jenner dressed as a Castro habitue is worth the 99 cent rental)
- Any star vehicle starring a Pop Star (Swept Away/Madonna, Brit Spears…)
